Things to do and not to do before your injectable treatment

Whether it is your first time having an injectable treatment like anti-wrinkle injections or dermal fillers, or you’re a regular; it’s important to follow these recommendations for the best outcome.

Wait at least 2 weeks between your injectables session and these:

  • Dental work (including general cleaning)
  • COVID vaccinations (we would prefer at least 4 weeks intervals)
  • treatments on the face such as skin needling, laser treatments, micro-blading brows, etc

They can cause mild swelling, inflammation and increase sensitivity. So best to let things settle first!

Avoid for a few days prior to your injectables treatment:

  • Alcohol
  • Aspirin, Advil, ibuprofen, fish oil, St. John’s wort, Gingko Biloba and high doses of vitamin E (unless medically necessary!)

They cause blood to be thinner or are anti-coagulators so will increase likelihood of bleeding and worsen any bruising.

Highly recommended that you do the following:

In the leading up to your treatment:

  • drink plenty of water
  • arrive make-up free (or keep it minimal; to avoid bacteria contamination)
  • if you bruise easily, try Arnica (check with your doctor first to access your suitability) as it may help reduce amount of bruising

Last but not least, please do not come in and have a treatment JUST before any social event. Kindly factor in any downtime; swelling, bruising, tenderness are all part of the healing process so come in at least 3 weeks before any big event.
