SKINPEN Micro-needling

SkinPen is the latest medical automated skin needling device recommended for collagen induction and scar reduction.

It uses very fine needles of the highest quality and a motorised hand-piece to rapidly “stamp” the skin to stimulate collagen production and skin rejuvenation.

THE DIFFERENCE

There are numerous dermal skin needling devices out on the market but not all of them are automated AND feature an adjustable needle depth.

This is why SkinPen has won awards for its innovative, unique feature where the needle lengths can be adjusted accordingly to treat different areas of the face. Our face has varying tissues depths from the thinner tissue layer of the forehead to the more voluminous cheeks.

This makes the SkinPen a highly effective treatment for areas which are normally difficult to treat such as the eye areas which cannot be treated using lasers, microdermabrasions or peels. A shorter needle length is used here to treat the delicate eye area to reduce and soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

On the other hand, a longer needle depth allows the SkinPen to penetrate deeper into the skin and effectively treat scars by breaking down the fibrotic scar tissue and allow natural skin regeneration.

COLLAGEN INDUCTION THERAPY via MICRO SKIN NEEDLING

The micro needles create tiny channels in the skin, triggering a controlled wound-healing response and stimulate collagen production. As such, this medical device has to be performed in a medical setting to ensure the highest level of sterility. In fact, the patented tip has a single-use “lock-out” feature which ensures that the same tip cannot be re-used, increasing safety for all patients.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF MICRO NEEDLING?

Skin micro needling has a wide range of benefits that can help address a variety of skin concerns.

  • SkinPen increases cell turnover and stimulates collagen production
  • SkinPen targets pigmentation (even melasma and age spots) and improves uneven skin tone by encouraging new cell turnover.
  • In treatment of scar tissues, SkinPen can be adjusted to break down the scar tissue and trigger scar tissue repair.

WHY IS SKINPEN BETTER THAN OTHER MICRO NEEDLING DEVICES?

SkinPen is the first FDA-cleared micro needling device which has excellent safety records and clinically proven to stimulate collagen. SkinPen also has more needles per tip, compared to our previous needling device, Dermastamp. This makes it easier to acheive the ideal “end point” with SkinPen, making it quicker to perform a treatment thus saving our clients time.

Moreover, unlike many micro needling treatments, SkinPen protocol does not use any active ingredients. Therefore, it is recommended for those with sensitive skins, rosacae, darker skin tones and acne.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Depending on the skin condition, we will recommend a minimum of five sessions performed 6 – 8 weeks apart. It is always best to speak to your clinician to work out the ideal treatment plan for you.

There is little to no downtime with SkinPen treatments, however, this can depend on the skin concerns and tissues that we are treating. For collagen induction or skin rejuvenation, you expect to be flushed (like a sunburn) for up to 24 hours after the treatment with possible red spots or blotches due to blood spotting. For treatments that involve longer needle depths for damaged deep tissue such as acne scarring or ice-pick scarring, you can expect temporary blotches or skin discolourations as blood will be drawn when targeting deep tissues. n our Most of our clients remain pink for a few hours and cover up any minor discolourations with makeup.

No makeup is to applied prior as the micro channels in the skin will remain open for at least an hour after the treatment. You may use mineral make-up 4 hours post-treatment.

There has not been any reports of any side effects in over 150,000 procedures performed worldwide.

If you have any other concerns, call up to see one of our dermal clinicians or Doctors today to have a discussion on the best treatment plan for you.
